David Goerlitz supports vapers

Former 'Winston Man' David Goerlitz

is a patron of Vapers Network

In June 2010, Dave Goerlitz became a patron of Vapers Network. He said he is keen to do "anything to promote the best alternative for smokers" and is happy to support our network.

David was the Winston Man in forty two of the tobacco company's advertisements but withdrew his endorsement at the end of the 1980s when he realised that promotion of smoking products involved exploitation of vulnerable people.

For some time David supported the anti-smoking movement but became disillusioned by dishonesty and anti-smoker trends.

He still wants to help smokers but not in the controlling and unethical way of many tobacco control campaigners. Now he prefers to support a harm reduction approach - freedom of informed choice and expansion of choices for nicotine users.

‘Smokers are now treated like lepers’ - article about Dave by Chris Snowdon

‘... I never intended to become an anti-smoking zealot; that has never been a part of who I am. I’m just livid at the fact that now I’m guilty by association because of the people in the anti-smoking movement who are so vindictive and hateful.’

‘Prohibition has never worked. We’ve seen it. We’ve tried it. It doesn’t work. Let’s try something new, and that is common sense. Higher taxes don’t work. Prohibition doesn’t work. Telling the truth does, in a way that brings people together rather than separating them.’
