Proposal to Ban Electronic Cigarette Sales to Adults in Utah: A Deadly Mistake
Rep. Paul Ray’s Proposal to Ban Electronic Cigarette Sales to Adults in Utah: A Deadly Mistake
Quote:A bill proposing a statewide ban of electronic cigarettes in the state of Utah recently passed the Health and Human Services Committee and now moves to the House for a vote, but according to experts, statements by the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Paul Ray, demonstrate a profound misunderstanding of the science behind electronic cigarettes and of nicotine’s effects on the body. http://www.onlineprnews.com/news/20647-1...stake.html |

RE: Proposal to Ban Electronic Cigarette Sales to Adults in Utah: A Deadly Mistake
Kate,
What advice do you have for those of us here in Utah to offer resistance to these bans? I have written local representatives now in opposition to bans on fruit flavored malt beverages, online gambling, and now electronic cigarettes. I'm not sure I've accomplished anything other than proving I support all forms of sin! There must be something I can do other than writing local politicians that doesn't involve wandering around with a placard. |

RE: Proposal to Ban Electronic Cigarette Sales to Adults in Utah: A Deadly Mistake
Oops, I should have updated this thread with the latest news, sorry.
Apparently they've taken ecigs out of the proposed legislation now and vaping with an ecig is to be exempt to the controls. While that's good on one hand it still means that nicotine is being restricted to approved categories so no innovation or competition will be allowed outside those categories. So pharm and tobacco companies own the nicotine supply with the single exception on ecigs. Apparently I wouldn't be able to vape nicotine liquid in my Iolite because it's not electronic. Personally I wouldn't be happy with a closed nicotine market and ecigs being an exception. I'd be asking politicians how they can justify protecting tobacco and pharm interests by giving them a nicotine monopoly. Will they do the same with caffeine? I'll get some more news on the situation today and update you, it might be that the legislation has already been passed. |

I've added a Utah Support forum now Void for us to share information and ideas.
I'm very unclear about the laws over in the US so don't really understand who, what, where and when but the 'why' certainly looks like cutting out competition for pharm companies. That's the plan of the WHO, they want global nicotine markets to be handed over to pharm companies.
