Celebrity vapers: not all celebrities are square when it comes to valuing electronic cigarettes

Freshcig - Thu, 10/05/2012 - 13:49

Do we really care what celebrities say or do? Are we interested in what clothes they wear or what nightclubs they frequent? Well, as much as it might pain us to say so, the answer is definitely yes. Why otherwise would there be so many copies of Heat and OK magazine flying off the shelves every week? We devour celebrity news voraciously, and ape their behavior in more ways than we probably care to admit. Still, there’s no need to be too disdainful or critical of this new cultural influence: sometimes it can actually be a force for good. It would appear from the newspapers and the weekly magazine that celebrities are increasingly turning to the electronic cigarette to get their nicotine fix, and that for us can only be good news. Maybe these celebrities are not as daft and one-dimensional as they painted to be.

So which celebrity started the ball rolling and was the first to come out and openly use an electric cigarette in public? Well, that’s the $64,000 question. The time-frame is unclear. Some claim it was Katherine Heigl, or Izzy from Gray’s Anatomy as she’s better known: she swore her allegiance to the e-cig when she smoked one publicly on the Letterman Show on live U.S.TV. Others maintain it was Charlie Sheen who publicly endorsed the e-cigarette. Sheen can rightly take credit for lots of things, many of which are slightly dubious, and he has after all invested in an electronic cigarette company himself: but was he the first? The truth is we just don’t know. Celebrities on both sides of the Atlantic have been keen to switch to the safer smoking alternative, and who can blame them after all?

Joining the growing list of celebrity vapers have been Leonardo Di Caprio, Kevin Federline, ex-husband of Britney Spears and celebrity by default, Dennis Quaid, Lindsay Lohan, Eric Roberts, John Cusack and Johnny Depp. On this side of the pond we’ve seen our own celebrity vapers too: Kate Moss is partial to the occasional one, as are, Jimmy White, Matt Cardle, Catherine Zeta Jones and June Alexander. Rock and roll hasn’t escaped the draw of the e-cig either. Ronnie Wood, Eddie Van Halen, Tom Petty and even Pete Docherty have been spotted taking a hit on their favourite e-cigarette recently.

Why is this important you’re probably asking? Well, it’s important because to the best of our knowledge every one of these celebrities made the decision to switch to electronic cigarettes voluntarily because they acknowledged the fact that the product was safer and healthier for them. None of these celebrities was sponsored to promote a particular product. They, like the rest of us, know a good thing when they see one. These celebrities have made positive choices, and have stopped using tobacco-based cigarettes because they are dangerous and can be lethal. If by choosing to make the switch to e-cigarettes celebrities persuade some of their fans to join them, then that can only be a good thing, can’t it? Let’s hear it for the much-maligned celebrity. We never thought we’d be praising them for carrying out a public service.

E-Cigarettes Show Signs of Market Stability

vapestick.blog - Thu, 10/05/2012 - 11:09

Now that electronic cigarettes have started to mature in terms of general consumer acceptance, we’re starting to see some significant signs of long-term stability setting in. One of those signs is an e-cigarette price that continues to drop with the corresponding increase in competition. The other sign of stability is found in electronic cigarette companies [...]

Show and Tell - The Vision ViVi Nova

ElectroCiggy - Thu, 10/05/2012 - 03:57
I have been using cartomizer tanks as apart of my usual vaping setup.  I like it but, sometimes I do not like taste that the stuffing produces.  You sometimes get leaking and other issues associated with cartomizer tanks.  I get frustrated when I get a bad one every once in a while.  I have used the CE2's and CE3's for a very short while and they made me very frustrated really quickly.  The CE2's failed quickly for me and the CE3's tend to burn the wick which is a taste that I can't stand.   I like the taste that atomizer dripping gives, but I do not like the tedious work that goes along with it.  So for the most part, I have been using cartomizer tanks.
A friend of mine showed me a video of the new Vision ViVi Nova Tank system.  It looked like it was a CE2 in a large tank.  I liked the way it looked and the design was intriguing.  The wick went through a coil in the middle of the tank instead of top or bottom feeding like the CE series tanks.  The top portion of the tank is also one sealed piece which makes it easy to fill.  The drip tip fits into the top cap instead of a cartomizer.   I do not like using syringes to fill my tanks so it seemed perfect.  I went online to ElectroNicStix and ordered one.

The ViVi Has ArrivedI placed my order late on a Tuesday night and it arrived by Friday.  That's not bad at all to go from Utah to Texas at a dollar per day in 3 days from start to finish.  In the package, it comes with the 3.5ml tank which is very sturdy, a bottom cap that holds the post for the coil and has 2 vent holes built into it, and the top cap.  Both caps screw into the tank which is a great way to prevent heavy leaking and can fit a standard 510 drip tip.  There are also 3 replaceable coils that are rated at 1.8ohms, 2.4ohms and 2.8ohms.  I suspect that they do not go higher than 2.8 because the wick may start to burn at higher voltages.  So far, I'm just using the 2.4ohm coil that comes already installed into the tank.

The ViVi Nova on my Magnum VoltI found that it works the best for me at 4.7volts on my Magnum Volt Mod.  I vape 70/30 vg/pg juices to produce a huge vapor.  That mixture of e-juice is thick, so I was concerned that the wick would dry out or clog up at the coil easily.  When I first filled up the tank, it was so easy to do that I accidentally filled it up to the top.  It's not recommended that you do that but it worked well for me just the same.  Usually when I get to the bottom of a CE2, the wick tends to dry out and burn since the coil is at the top.  The ViVi Nova kept  a pretty consistent vapor production and flavor throughout the different tank levels.  I vaped my first tank load down to the very bottom in about 3 days.  I did taste the wick somewhat when I changed the voltage to anything higher than 5volts.  Other than that, I didn't experience any issues.  The biggest question people have for me is if it leaks.  During the short time I have used it, the ViVi Nova only leaked once.  I don't really consider it an issue because it leaked only a few drops.  I was also holding my Magnum Volt Mod upside down at the time as I was walking in 90 degree weather.  I don't know many people that walk-n-vape like I do, so I don't think that should be an issue.
Over all, I am pleased with this tank design and setup.  The fact that it is easy to fill is a sure winner.  The vent holes on the sides of the bottom cap make it easy to take drags from the device.  I pull hard when I vape and the added vents makes it easy to take big drags.  I would find that I would have to adjust cartomizers that had the air vents in the connection thread to create an easy draw with lots of vapor.  The top and bottom cap are stainless steel but the initial tank is clear.  I may just buy more.  They make the tank portion in various colors to better match whatever battery device you are using. The replacement coils are only a few dollars a piece so they are about the same price or less than most cartomizers.  I'm still not too excited with the string style wick but it would be cool if you could put a metal mesh wick in there to eliminate the potential burn taste.
The Vision ViVi Nova is available at many other sites right now.  The prices are always changing to be competitive with other vendors.  The one I got was a couple of dollars less by the time I wrote this.  So far, I know that you can get it at ElectroNicStix , Clouds Of Vapor , AltSmoke , GotVapes , SaferCigs in the UK , and EsmokerOnline.
Do you have the Vision ViVi Nova or have any questions about it?  Feel free to leave a comment or remark below.  Thank you for taking the time to read this and enjoy your transformation from smoking to vaping ;]

10 of the best reasons why you should make the switch to Freshcig’s electronic cigarette

Freshcig - Wed, 09/05/2012 - 13:41

Making rash promises is easy, but delivering on those promises is another matter entirely. That’s why you’ll never find Freshcig making promises that we know are impossible to keep. Although we believe in our electronic cigarettes, we won’t claim that smoking them will help you to give up tobacco. Now obviously if you do manage to quit for good after using our products, then we’d be delighted. But we have to be honest and say it doesn’t work like that. Electric cigarettes are not sold as smoking cessation devices: they’re sold as the safer alternative product for those smokers who wish to continue to smoke. They’re safer because they do not contain tobacco and are not ignited. If you’re a little disappointed by that, then here’s a bit of news that might cheer you up a bit: e-cigs might not be smoking cessation devices, but there are at least 10 good reasons why you should make the switch none the less.

  The benefits of e-cigarettes
  • No tobacco.
  • No ash is produced nor ashtrays needed with e-cigarettes.
  • No smoke and therefore no tar are produced.
  • E-cigs do not contain carbon monoxide, nitrosamines and formaldehyde.
  • Electronic cigarettes produce no smell.
  • Electric cigarettes are non-polluting.
  • No second-hand smoke is produced by a Freshcig as they are not ignited.
  • It’s generally legal to smoke electric cigarettes anywhere in the UK.
  • Electronic cigarettes are up to 70 percent cheaper than tobacco-based cigarettes.
  • E-cigarettes look and feel the same as a cigarette, but with none of the harmful side effects.

We could go on at length of course and give you many other reasons why making the switch to our products is one of the best decisions you’ll ever make, but we wouldn’t want to spoil all the fun you’ll have in finding this out for yourself. Take it from us; you really can’t get too much of a good thing. What we can guarantee is that once you’ve made the switch to Freshcig’s electronic cigarette, then you’ll never look back. You won’t need tobacco when you’ve got a Freshcig.

Ready or not: The E-Cig Revolution is Here

blu.net - Fri, 04/05/2012 - 18:42

It started innocently enough.

Sometime about a decade ago, you first began hearing about electronic cigarettes. They may have been featured on a nightly news program. Or there was a vague mention of them in the backend of a magazine or newspaper.

But, that was it. There was nothing concrete. They were hard to get, you couldn’t buy them in the store, your friends weren’t using them, the advantage of using them was  unclear. And frankly, they just seemed to be another wacky gimmick. Maybe people ‘overseas’ were using them, but here in the U.S, their existence  went virtually unnoticed.

Electronic Cigarette Use Has Quadrupled Over the Last Year1

It’s amazing how far the electronic cigarette industry has come since those early beginnings. E-cig conversations are no longer relegated to the back-ends of magazines and filler promos on nightly news channels. They are no longer the ‘crazy’ invention you hear about but never see. And their advantages are anything but unclear.

With no smoke, no offensive odor, and no ash, it has become clear the electronic cigarette revolution is here to stay. Don’t believe us, just look at the signs:

  • Electronic cigarette retailers can now be found all over the United States. In fact, blu Cigs are now sold in more than 12,000 retail locations nationwide, including stores like Walgreens, H.E.B., Meijer, Sheetz, JR Cigar, and Scolari’s.
  • Celebs have jumped aboard. As sort of a who’s who of electronic cigarette smokers, celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Katherine Heigl, Lindsay Lohan, and Carrie Fisher have all been seen vaping.
  • And of course, maybe the biggest sign of the E-cig industries arrival is the attention they are getting from lawmakers. Visit Casaa.org for a quick glimpse on the potential laws and regulations many states are exploring in regards to electronic cigarettes.

This is only the beginning. The electronic cigarette revolution has just started to take root. Stay tuned to find out what happens next.

One easy way to clean your atomiser

TECC blog - Fri, 04/05/2012 - 09:26

If your atomizer has you feeling that you are sucking on a pinched straw, then chances are it needs a really good clean.

But before you clean it – check the contacts are clean on the battery and the atomizer, as  sometimes a poor performing atty is due to poor battery power caused by dirty contacts.

But if you still have that pinched-straw ‘sucking’ thing going on – then let’s clean!

First – you have to be sensible, as this involves HOT WATER – you want it too hot to touch.

Hold the atomizer tank side/battery side up (with pliers, or BBQ tongues – something that grips well and gives you distance between your hands and the hot water), and allow the HOT water to drain through to the threaded end. Hold the atty over a bowl or the sink, and keep pouring hot water through it, until the water runs clear. It will be a tobacco brown to start with.

Atomiser

Once you have clear water running through your atty, let the atomizer cool before you touch it, but when cool enough to handle, blow out as much water as possible and then leave to dry completely.

Once your atty is completely dry, prime with 4-5 drops of e-liquid or VG or PG and you should be up and vaping with a great working atty!

But how do you clean your atty?  Found an awesome way? Leave a comment and let us know.

One in three smokers make excuse to leave office to have a cigarette

E-Lites - Thu, 03/05/2012 - 10:00

A study has found that a third of smokers will make an excuse to leave the office for a cigarette break. The survey, undertaken by The Cooperative Pharmacy, found that since bans on smoking have come into force in workplaces, staff have become inclined to find an excuse to go outside so they can have a smoke.

The results of the study come from interviews of over two thousand workers in the UK across a variety of occupations, including teachers, office workers, construction workers and health professionals. According to the survey, one in three workers said they would volunteer to undertake additional tasks outside of their role if it meant they had an opportunity to have a cigarette break. Common errands include going to the shop to buy milk and taking the post.

Respondents to the survey indicated that the most common reason for wanting to take a cigarette break was ‘stress’, followed very closely by ‘wanting a break’ from work. The study found that a smoker who smokes between 16 and 20 cigarettes a day takes an average of 4 cigarettes breaks during work time, with each break lasting around 6 minutes.

When it comes to choosing the time to take a break, it seems that weather is a key factor. Over half of the respondents of the survey reported that bad weather would put them off or delay them from taking a cigarette break.

Smoking: beauty or the beast?

Freshcig - Mon, 30/04/2012 - 13:26
What damage can tobacco smoke do?

Most of us are definitely up to speed about smoking, and are aware of the damage it can do to the body. We know that smokers are more likely to develop lung and other cancers, and suffer from heart attacks and high blood pressure. The odd thing is we take this information in and accept it as the gospel truth, even though all of the acknowledged dangers are actually taking place inside the body where we can’t see them. What makes it even odder is that we tend to ignore the obvious, and pay little attention to the damage that tobacco smoke is doing to our skin, even though the signs are staring us in the face as it were.

Smoking ages you

Tobacco smoke is as harmful for the skin as sun damage or ‘hard living’ and can add years to your appearance. According to Dr Nicholas Perricone, a dermatologist, and author of the Perricone Prescription, the long-term effects of smoking are significant in terms of premature ageing. One single inhalation of tobacco smoke is enough to release more than a million free radicals, which then gather in the lungs and can trigger an inflammatory response which will circulate throughout the body.

In 1985 the term ‘smoker’s face’ was added to the medical dictionary and is now part of popular currency. If you can’t picture it immediately think of a rocker like Ronnie Wood, and the image should become a little clearer. Having a smoker’s face makes you much look much older than your years: lines and wrinkles appear on the face, particularly around the upper and lower lips and corners of the eyes. Deep lines can also form on the cheeks, as well as numerous shallower lines on the cheeks and lower jaw. The general demeanour of a smoker is a grey and gaunt. The features take on a distinct gaunt appearance and underlying bone structures appear to be more prominent.

Smoking depletes the collagen in the skin

Cigarette smoke contains more than 4000 toxins and harmful chemicals, many of which are absorbed directly into the bloodstream and are then transmitted by the blood into the skin's structures. Smoking also causes the blood vessels in the top layers of the skin to constrict, thus thickening and reducing the oxygen levels in the blood. This also reduces the levels of collagen in the skin, and the levels of elasticity.

Smoking thins the skin

A smoker's skin is normally thinner due to poor circulation, and there are usually visible signs of premature ageing. Lines and wrinkles become more prominent and established. A recent study of twins at St Thomas’ Hospital looked at 25 pairs of identical twins, where 1 twin was a lifelong smoker and the other twin was a non smoker. Using an ultrasound technology to gauge the thickness of the skin, the study revealed that the smoker's skin was 25 percent thinner than that of the non-smoker. In certain areas of the body this differential increased to around 40 percent.

You are what you smoke

In spite of all the information about how tobacco smoking ages the skin and can make us look older than we actually are, it has to be acknowledged that not everybody wants to give up their habit. Some people enjoy smoking, even if they don’t appreciate the price they might have to pay in terms of appearance. For those people there is now a product available that might just be the answer they have been looking for - the electronic cigarette. Electric cigarettes, like Freshcig’s e-cig, only contain nicotine and water vapour. They are absolutely free from all the other harmful chemicals that are found in tobacco smoke. So if you want to continue to smoke, but have no desire to look an ageing rocker in the years to come, then maybe now’s the time to make the switch to the safer alternative.

Ignorance Still Abounds Regarding E-Cigarettes
